Serve the Community

Outreach and Social Justice are important to the people of St. Christopher’s for at least two reasons: one, because such ministry helps others, and two, because it changes our lives. Like a medical school whose primary mission is to train doctors and nurses, the church’s primary mission is to train disciples. In the process, we treat the sick, but just as importantly, we create healers. For this reason, it’s not enough to write a check for outreach from the church treasury. The check is important, but we also need to send people along with the check if we are to be changed. Both help make God’s love visible in the world, but the latter helps make the world’s needs visible to the church as well, especially when a member returns saying,My eyes have been opened; my life is changed.
