Ministry Opportunities
Building and Grounds Team: St. Benedict, who is sometimes called the father of western monasticism, said that the care we take with the liturgy should extend to our care for everything. "Regard all utensils and goods of the monastery," he said, "as sacred vessels of the altar." Such is the work of those who care for St. Christopher's building and grounds - who weed flower beds, change light bulbs, plan the parish work day and make or oversee repairs and improvements to our facilities.
Finance Team: This small group of members is responsible for overseeing the endowment and investments of St. Christopher's.
Parish Life: Members of this committee help plan and organize social events and receptions that are held after many of the special services throughout the year.
Social Concerns Team: Helping to meet the needs of people in the community is a strong priority for members of our parish. This committee's mission is to identify, participate in, and inform parishioners about opportunities to help those in need. All activities of the social concerns committee are open to all members of the parish and are scheduled as needs arise.
Stewardship Team: This committee considers ways to keep the importance of stewardship in the mind and prayers of the parish and reminds us of the joy of giving. Our parish budget is supported almost entirely by the contributions of our members. The committee also administers the annual stewardship campaign each fall.
Vestry: These elected members of the parish meet on the third Monday of each month to oversee the finances and governance of the church.
Welcome! Team: These individuals minister to the needs of visitors and newcomers, working with other committees and individuals in the parish to invite, welcome, and incorporate those who wish to make St. Christopher their spiritual home. The committee meets as needed and sponsors several newcomers events a year.
Worship Team: This group meets three to four times a year to plan worship services and coordinate special services with all those who are involved in leadership positions in worship.
