_Dear Friends and Family of St. Christopher’s:
As October gives way to November my thoughts turn to All Saints’ Sunday and the many people, living and dead, who have blessed St. Christopher’s over the years. They have blessed us with births and baptisms, confirmations and receptions, marriage, ministry, music and more. Even funerals have blessed our life together, reminding us of the “great cloud of witnesses” that surround the family of God. For almost 100 years St. Christopher’s has been blessed by its parishioners’ generosity, and so I am writing to say thank you and to and ask for your continued support.
Thank you for the many gifts you have bestowed upon St. Christopher's:
• For the precious time you have given to prayer, formation, worship, and service;
• For the God-given talents you have used to create a place where people are spiritually fed;
• And for the hard-earned income you have shared so that together we can carry out the work that God calls us to do in this place.
As a result of your generous support, we have accomplished a great deal during the past year, despite a difficult economy. At the same time, we realize that because of the economy, things may have changed for some of you since you made your 2011 pledge to St. C’s. If this is the case, perhaps we can help you. Never forget that you are a deeply valued member of this parish family, and supporting each other – in good times and bad – is what families do. Regardless of your ability to pledge, you are always welcome to participate fully in the life of our parish.
Consequently, if you need to adjust your pledge (up or down), please contact your rector, Paris Coffey, (at 708-214-8278 or jpcoffey240@comcast.net), or your treasurer, Marty Dunlavey, (via the church office at 708-386-5613) or fill out the pledge card here. To increase your pledge, bring it up to date, or make a special gift, you can give online via credit cardatwww.stchristophersoakpark.org, mail a check to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church,
545 S. East Ave., Oak Park, IL 60304, or drop it in Sunday’s offering plate.
Finally, I want to thank you for considering prayerfully what you will pledge of your income to the mission and ministry of St. Christopher’s for 2012. Your contributions are crucial to our churchand the pursuit of its mission, including a greater expression of awareness of God’s presence among us, a deeper commitment to the hungry and homeless in our midst, and a growing practice of welcome that has led to increased membership and attendance God has blessed us, calling us to bless others so that all people might live together fully and freely. God has created us as God’s hands and feet in the world – as partners for a better tomorrow – emphasizing that OUR stewardship can make a difference.
May God continue to bless you as your faithfulness blesses us,
The Rev. J. Paris Coffey
